You make a difference to the children and youth at Knowles Centre

We see the hope and opportunity for every child.

We believe in teaching young people skills while helping them heal from the trauma they have lived through.

We believe that with therapeutic care every young person can participate positively in the world.

Our goal is that every client recovers from their trauma and when possible returns to their families of origin or their extended family. When this is not a viable option, we want every youth to have a successful long term foster placement, enter an independent living program or successfully lives independently.

We receive foundational funding from the province through Child and Family Services for some of our programs. This crucial funding only supports the most basic care. It doesn't cover the additional resources needed for comprehensive and individualized support. The youth in our care need intensive therapeutic services, supported recreational and cultural programming, and specialized supports that enhance healing and development.

When you donate, you are supporting trauma-informed programs, staff training, and holistic interventions that make a difference in the lives of these young people. Additionally you are ensuring our operations continue by covering overhead, program growth, service expansion, quality improvement or new initiatives.

Our work needs a collaborative effort between public, private and charitable sectors to provide this needed comprehensive community service. Together, the community ensures that youth in the child welfare system have access to the comprehensive, compassionate and specialized care they need to heal and thrive.

Making a Gift-in-Kind to Knowles Centre

Donations of new and gently used goods provide a valuable means for Knowles Centre to improve its services to children, youth, and their families. These donations also help Knowles Centre to reduce the cost of purchasing items needed for our programs and facilities.

Examples of gifts-in-kind received by Knowles Centre in the past include:

• passes or tickets for shows, events and activities
• new or gently used sports equipment and recreation supplies
• clean and well-repaired household items and furniture
• current books, games, and electronics
• trees and plants for landscaping our grounds
• gift certificates for local stores and restaurants

Knowles Centre is very appreciative of all offers of gifts-in-kind, but only those contributions that have an immediate or identified use can be accepted. Donors are strongly encouraged to contact Knowles Centre before arranging to deliver any gifts-in-kind.

Charitable tax receipts may be issued for gifts-in-kind donations per Canada Revenue Agency guidelines.
